چکیده

The nuclear magnetic resonance spectra of phosphatidylethanolamines, phosphatidylcholines, phosphatidylserines, and sphingomyelin are discussed in terms of molecular structure. The factors influencing the band width of the protons of the polar head of phosphatidylcholines are surveyed. It is found that the band widths vary with solvent and that this variation can perhaps be correlated with the micellar properties of the phospholipid. The dipolar ionic structure for phosphatidylethanolamines in solution is discussed in terms of nuclear magnetic resonance and infrared evidence.

Head-group conformation in phospholipids: a phosphorus-31 nuclear magnetic resonance study of oriented monodomain dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine bilayers.

Angular-dependent 31P NMR spectra of oriented biaxial monodomain DPPC.H2O multilayers are employed to study head-group conformation in this phospholipid. The results indicate that the O-P-O plane of the phosphate, where the O's are the nonesterified oxygens of the phosphodiester, is tilted at 47 +/- 5 degrees with respect to the bilayer normal. This PO4 orientation could result in the choline m...

31P nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy of native and recombined lipoproteins.

Native and recombined lipoproteins have been studied by (31)P nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Very low-, low-, and high-density lipoproteins exhibited characteristic spectra. The main resonances were assigned to phosphatidylcholine and sphingomyelin. Relaxation times for these phospholipids were separately measured in low-density lipoproteins and high-density lipoproteins. The effect o...

Dynamic structure of whole cells probed by nuclear Overhauser enhanced nitrogen-15 nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.

The proton-decoupled 15N Fourier transform nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra of 15N-enriched Escherichia coli, Bacillus licheniformis, baker's yeast, and Friend leukemic cells were obtained. The 15N NMR spectra of whole cells displayed 15N resonances originating from (i) protein backbones with lysine, arginine, and histidine side chains, (ii) ribonucleic acids, (iii) peptidoglycan, and (...

Metabolic characterization of human non-Hodgkin's lymphomas in vivo with the use of proton-decoupled phosphorus magnetic resonance spectroscopy.

Development of biological and clinical uses of in vivo 31P magnetic resonance spectroscopy has been hampered by poor anatomic localization of spectra and poor resolution of overlapping signals within phosphomonoester and phosphodiester regions of the spectrum. We applied 1H-decoupling and nuclear Overhauser enhancement to improve resolution of 31P magnetic resonance spectra accurately localized...

Quantitative assessment of neurochemical changes in a rat model of long-term alcohol consumption as detected by in vivo and ex vivo proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.

The aim of present study was to quantitatively investigate the neurochemical profile of the frontal cortex region in a rat model of long-term alcohol consumption, by using in vivo proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy ((1)H-MRS) at 4.7 T and ex vivo(1)H high-resolution magic angle spinning (HR-MAS) technique at 11.7 T. Twenty male rats were divided into two groups and fed a liquid diet for 10 ...
